GOOD NEWS...
As
many of you already know, Creation Sensation's science kit production (for
Apologia books)
was temporarily shut down in early February 2009 because of the uncertainty of
how a new law, CPSIA, (the lead-testing law) would apply to our supply
kits. Thankfully, during the intervening months since, the Consumer Product Safety Commission has provided further
clarification of the law. This clarification has lead our legal counsel
to advise that it is time to introduce new, Creation Sensation Kits to the
educational community. We
have always known that our kits were perfectly safe to be used under the
supervision of a teacher/parent. But we have taken this opportunity to go over
every item in each kit and reconsider any safety issues that might concern a
parent and make any changes we feel are necessary, However, since the latest
revision of
CPSC's recommended implementation of the law says
that
"Certain educational materials, such as chemistry sets
" are exempt from the expensive testing that is required of many other
products used by children, the Creation Sensation kits have not been tested for
lead levels. We trust that a parent or teacher will safely supervise the use of
these educational materials.
Over the years, we have taken
care to listen to the helpful suggestions that our customers have offered, and
with the introduction of the new kits, have made some wonderful changes to
our kits which will make your job as educator much easier!
WHAT'S DIFFERENT ABOUT THE NEW KITS?
The redesigned kits are now organized by lesson.
You will be able to quickly locate what you need because each
lesson is sorted into its own bag. (Of course, some items don't
quite fit into a sack, so a few things will be packed separately.)
The items that are reused from lesson to lesson are in a bag of
their own, so you can easily keep up with them and have them handy for
the next lesson.
Also, we have added 2nd Student Kits
for families that have several students completing the course at the
same time. The 2nd Student Kit allows the siblings of a family to
share many items already included in the basic family kit, but provides
"extra" for a second student. For example, in the astronomy kit,
extra plaster is provided so a Venus landscape can be created when your
family studies the planet Venus. For an additional charge, you
can add a 2nd Student Kit for each additional sibling in the family.
The 2nd Student Kits are designed for a family setting and will not
work with groups larger than 4 or 5 students. For groups of 6 or
more students, we have a wonderful alternative - a Co-op Kit!
Co-ops
are all the rage in homeschool circles and Creation Sensation is
excited to see so many different groups centering their science co-ops
around Apologia texts. We want to make it as easy as possible for
the leaders of the co-op to find the supplies they need to make the
projects successful, so we have designed a co-op kit with that leader
in mind. And now, all co-op kits can be custom built to the number of students in the co-op.
(To be precise, they can be built to an even number of students since many
projects are done in teams of two students.) Co-op kits include lots of extras
too, like posters and animal replicas. The projected cost of co-op supplies for
this summer is $33 -$35 per student.
DADDYTIME is a new feature that will be added to the
Deluxe Family Kits. A full
explanation of DADDYTIME is forthcoming, but as a quick explanation, DADDYTIME
will provide suggestions for ways a father (or grandfather, uncle, etc.) can
join in the topic of study by the addition of fun family games and activities
that teach spiritual truths from the spiritual head of the family.
So, what do all these kits cost? And when will they be
available? All kits are currently available
and on sale. You can see the prices inside the store.
